For me, the pearl of the trip to Montenegro was the mountainous part of the country, namely the Biogradska Gora and Durmitor reserves. They are completely different, and each is beautiful in its own way.
Biogradska Gora
In the previous post I wrote that we are traveling along the Budva-Podgorica-Kolasin-Mojkovac route. Biogradska Gora is not far from Mojkovac. Google Maps helps you find the right place. Don`t forget to buy a 3G Telenor SIM card!
Entrance to the territory costs 2 euros. You will get to Biogradsky Lake, there begins a hiking trail. Its length is 4-5 km to the top of the mountain. The trail is not very difficult, but you need to be prepared for a constant climb on the way there. On the way back it will be easier.
Before a trip to Biogradska Gora better check the weather forecast. Despite the fact that there were +35 in Budva, it was cold and rainy in the mountains, around +13 degrees.
At the top it was foggy, so, unfortunately, we couldn`t see the whole panorama. The highest point there is the Black Head - 2,139 meters. On the top, there are few restaurants where you can keep warm and refresh yourself before the return journey. Be ready to inhumanly huge portions of the dishes!
Durmitor
When I first heard the name of the National Park, I thought about the world of Hogwarts. And not in vain. We lived in Zabljak, this is the closest city to the main part of Durmitor. In August the temperature was +10 degrees, and it was rainy and foggy. Thank God, the locals gave me a jacket, so I did not catch a cold.
We arrived in the National Park by car. Entrance for 2 people + parking = 10 euro.
Near the lake, you`ll find several routes. Through the forest to Virac (ski resort) or deep into the forest. All routes are marked with a paint and arrows. The forest here is really wild. After reading the sign 'Mededi' (similar to the Russian version of the word 'bear'), I was frightened like a child, when I heard a noise in the forest. It turned out that it was just a woodpecker.
We ate wild raspberries and breathed fresh air. By the way, it is better to wear comfortable waterproof shoes.
